In this video, preschool deaf and hard-of-hearing students are learning the sounds in a word using Fun FONEMZ. They are then determining what letters make those sounds, using the FONZABET. You will see a little girl who is deaf and has Down Syndrome identifying the sounds in a word, from several choices. Her success at such an activity is phenomenal! Without such a visual program to clarify sound, she would have much difficulty doing this identification task.
FONEMZ is a fun interactive tool that teaches, phonemic awareness, articulation, and literacy skills to students of all walks of life and all ages. Not only is very effective with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students and students with Down Syndrome, it is also effective with students with autism, developmental delay, apraxia, dyslexia, and various communication and learning disabilities, from early preschool to adults. Also see the video in FONZABET section of this website under "Products."
