The FONZABET is a bridge between phonemic awareness and actual reading. FONEMZ first, makes sound recognition clear. The FONEMZ colors are used to represent the letter combinations that make each sound. In English the are 40 sounds and over 250 letter combinations make these sounds. The color of the letter combination helps in the recognition of the sound that the letter combinations make. The FONZABET assists in alphabet recognition, spelling and reading of words. Link FONEMZ to the Alphabet - using the FONZABET
The FONZABET is a file of cards with over 250 letter combinations for each phoneme, done in the same color of the FONEMZ that depicts that sound. In other words, the actual letters are the same color as the FONEMZ that they represent. Most phonemes/FONEMZ have more than one possible letter combination that makes that sound. The FONZABET consists of over 250 letter combinations. Once the student can build words with the FONEMZ volitionally, they have demonstrated that they can recognize the FONEMZ combinations as specific words.
